Athens’s main port is Piraeus, from where numerous ferries and hydrofoils depart, making it possible to reach all the Greek islands. Athens also has two other ports, considerably smaller than Piraeus: Rafina port, 30 km from Athens city centre, and Lavrio port, 60 km away.
There are no direct ferry connections from the UK to Athens’s ports. However, from major Mediterranean ports such as Venice, Bari and Brindisi, there are daily direct connections to Igoumenitsa and Patras. From there, you can easily hire a car and drive to Athens.
Ferries from Athens depart frequently to Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Crete and all other destinations year-round, with increased frequency during summer months.
