Andros is the northernmost island of the Cyclades archipelago, among the most beautiful and second in size only to Naxos, which is also very popular due to its proximity to Athens. Steep slopes, gorges, rivers and large valleys of olive, fig, orange, lemon and vine trees characterise the enchanting landscape of this historically rich island. The mountains end in steep headlands and small, intimate, sandy beaches.
The heart of the island is the town of Andros, which has a unique beauty due to the combination of Venetian, Byzantine and Ottoman architecture and the harmonious atmosphere of the coexistence of the medieval town with the modern town of shops, cafés and clubs.

In the south-east lies Andros, also known as Hora, the capital of the island and the second most important port. The town is very attractive, with neoclassical buildings contrasting with the neighbouring Cycladic-style houses, steep and narrow streets full of arcades, beautiful churches and two characteristic squares.
In Hora, there is an Archaeological Museum with exhibits from the Geometric, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods, a Museum of Modern Art with works by the sculptor Michalis Tombros as well as other important Greek and foreign artists, while temporary exhibitions of international importance are also organised during the summer season, and there is also a Nautical Museum (the island has an important nautical tradition), with a rich collection of ship models, photographs and naval instruments.
Gavrio is the island’s main port and is located on the western coast of Andros, while Batsi is a fishing village located 7 kilometres away from the port of Gavrio.
Batsi is the most touristy resort on the island, which has nevertheless retained its traditional and picturesque charm, and is surrounded by beautiful beaches including the Golden Beach and Agios Petros. Built amphitheatrically around a bay, it consists of small colourful houses, taverns, ouzerie, hotels and many shops.
There are many archaeological and historical sites on the island of Andros, such as Ipsili.

The most beautiful beaches on the island are located in Nimborio, Paraporti, in the bay of Korthi near Batsi, in Gavrio and in Vitali. Among the most beautiful beaches are Achla, Vitali and Vlychada, Paraporti, Grias Pidima, Piso Gialia, Stivari, Agia Marina and Agios Kyprianos. Throughout the island, excellent tourist facilities welcome many visitors who choose it for its natural beauty, architecture and peaceful towns, monuments and beaches.
