Antiparos is a small island in the middle of the Cyclades archipelago divided by a narrow channel from its bigger sister Paros. The island is noteworthy for its sandy beaches and authentic natural beauty. The capital, Chora Antiparos or Kastro, is built around the core of the Venetian castle and is characterised by traditional Cycladic architecture with cobbled streets, white houses and beautiful blue-domed churches.

The must-see attraction is the cave of Antiparos, known since antiquity and famous for its stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is located on the hill of Agios Ioannis in the south-eastern part of the island. The oldest stalagmite in the cave, and probably the oldest in Europe, is located right at its entrance and is estimated to have formed 45 million years ago. To reach the heart of the cave, at a depth of 100 metres, you can walk up the 411 steps that wind through unique and fascinating formations.
At the entrance to the cave is the white chapel of Agios Ioannis Spiliotis, built in the 18th century.
Agios Georgios is a very small village with pretty surroundings and great tranquillity.
A trip to the famous island of Despotiko, almost perfectly in the centre of the Cyclades, is only 700 metres from the south-western coast of Antiparos. In addition to beautiful sandy beaches with an exotic flavour, the islet of Despotiko is an important archaeological site where a cult centre dating back to the 7th century B.C. has been found, thanks to the remains of a temple consecrated to Apollo, gold jewellery, statues, ceramics and many other finds.
There are beautiful views of the islands of Antiparos, Syros, Serifos, Sifnos, Kimolos, Folegandros, Sikinos and Ios. Boats depart either from Antiparos village or from Agios Georgios.
