Located just 5 kilometres from bustling Mykonos Town and 2 kilometres from the picturesque village of Platys Gialos, Psarou Beach represents the epitome of luxury and exclusivity in the Cyclades Islands. With its 150 metres of fine golden sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, this bay has won the hearts of international celebrities, tycoons and the world’s jet set, becoming the symbol of high-end tourism in Mykonos.
The bay’s natural conformation offers perfect protection from the Meltemi winds that often batter the island during the summer months, creating an idyllic setting where the waters almost always remain as calm as a natural swimming pool. The sandy seabed slopes gently, making the beach also suitable for families with children, despite the decidedly cosmopolitan atmosphere.
What distinguishes Psarou from the other beaches of Mykonos is not only its natural beauty, but the luxury ecosystem that surrounds it: from the legendary Nammos Beach Club to the multi-million dollar yachts that moor in front of the shore, to the private heliport that allows discreet and glamorous arrivals. Not surprisingly, the bay has become a favourite stage for international fashion shoots and film sets.
The bay of Psarou is about 300 metres long and 20 metres wide, characterised by fine, light-coloured sand that contrasts beautifully with the deep blue of the Aegean Sea. The beach is naturally divided into several zones, each with its own distinctive characteristics.
The most exclusive section is occupied by the famous Nammos Beach Club, an institution in the Mediterranean luxury scene. Here, designer sun loungers and sophisticated-looking parasols alternate with private cabanas equipped with every comfort, including personal butlers and private chef service. Access to this area requires reservations well in advance during the high season and a strictly elegant dress code.
A small portion of free beach is available for those who prefer a more independent approach, although space is limited and during the high season is particularly crowded. The yachts and luxury boats that stop in front of the bay offer a constant spectacle, turning every moment into a postcard-perfect experience.
Reaching Psarou beach is easy thanks to its strategic location on the south coast of Mykonos. The beach is 5 kilometres from Mykonos Town and 7 kilometres from the airport, making it easily accessible by various means of transport.
By bus: During the summer season, the KTEL bus service connects Mykonos Town to Psarou with frequent runs every 30-45 minutes from 8:00 to 24:00. The ticket costs about 2 euro and the journey takes 15 minutes. The bus stop is located a few metres from the beach, along the main road.
By car or scooter: Renting a car or scooter offers maximum flexibility for reaching Psarou. From the centre of Mykonos one drives along the coastal road in a southerly direction, passing through Ornos and Platys Gialos. The journey takes about 10 minutes, but it is important to bear in mind that parking is chargeable and during the high season it can be difficult to find a space.
The Psarou area is home to some of the most exclusive accommodation in the entire Cyclades archipelago. The jewel in the crown is the Nammos Hotel Mykonos, a 5-star boutique hotel offering only 26 rooms and suites, guaranteeing maximum privacy and personalised services. Each room boasts direct sea views and international designer furnishings, while guests enjoy privileged access to the beach club below.
In the immediate vicinity is Kensho Psarou and several luxury private villas that are rented out during the summer season. These properties often offer amenities such as a private chef, personal butler and direct access to the best areas of the beach. For those looking for more affordable accommodation, the nearby area of Platys Gialos offers boutique hotels and charming residences at lower rates, while retaining the convenience of reaching Psarou within minutes.
Bookings for the high season (July-August) should be made well in advance, often as early as the previous winter, given the high occupancy rate and the loyal clientele that returns year after year.
