Paros National Airport (IATA code: PAS, ICAO: LGPA) is one of the most strategic airports in the Cyclades, serving one of the most popular and central islands of the archipelago. Situated in Aliki, 10 kilometres from the capital Parikia, this airport has undergone a radical transformation in recent years, evolving from a simple domestic stopover to a major hub for international traffic.
Operational since 1982, Paros Airport has recently benefited from major investments to modernise its infrastructure. In November 2020, the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority allocated EUR 43 million for a total upgrade, completed in 2023, which radically transformed the airport’s capacity.
Prior to 2017, the airport exclusively accommodated domestic flights, but the expansion of its infrastructure opened its doors to international traffic, making Paros more accessible to European visitors and consolidating its role as a gateway to the central Cyclades.
Paros’ central location in the archipelago, combined with the airport improvements, makes it an ideal stopover for those wishing to explore neighbouring islands such as Naxos, Mykonos, Santorini and the Lesser Cyclades.
Paros Airport offers several transport options to reach Parikia and other locations on the island, with services that have improved since the modernisation of the airport.
During the summer season (May-October), KTEL buses connect the airport with Parikia via Pounda-Voutakos, with runs synchronised with flight schedules. The service also includes stops in Naoussa, the second tourist resort on the island.
Tourist tickets allow one to visit the entire island at a cost of EUR 9 per person, representing an inexpensive option for those wishing to explore Paros without hiring a vehicle.
The taxi rank is located just outside the terminal, near the main entrance. Airport transfers cost around €20 to Parikia and €25-30 to Naoussa, with a journey time of 10-15 minutes to the capital.
Private transfers that can be booked online offer more convenience, with drivers waiting for passengers with named placards and assistance with luggage. Many accommodations offer transfer services included or at discounted rates.
Several car rental agencies operate directly at the airport, including major international companies and local operators. Car hire in Par os is the most flexible solution for exploring Paros and reaching the island’s most remote beaches.
It is advisable to book in advance during the high season, when vehicle availability may be limited. There is free parking at the airport for those who need to leave their car during the journey.
To rent a car in Paros we always recommend comparing the rates of all companies with DiscoverCars because in our opinion it offers the best prices, allows cancellation up to 48 hours before rental and offers a very cheap comprehensive insurance policy.
