The beaches of Kos are considered the most beautiful in the Dodecanese and among the most beautiful in Greece. Come and judge for yourself: enchanting sandy shores of soft, white or golden sand, washed by crystal-clear sea, and wild-looking rocky coves await you.
The island is particularly appreciated for the quality of its beaches, many of which have been awarded the European Blue Flag for their clean waters and environmental management. The geographical conformation of the island, with the northern coast more exposed to the meltemi (the summer wind of the Aegean Sea) and the southern coast more sheltered, offers different options for every type of traveller.
For families and young people looking for fun, there is a wide choice of well-equipped beaches, busy but never excessive like the trendier beaches of Mykonos. Nature lovers can opt for quieter beaches surrounded by greenery.
The variety of beaches on Kos is truly remarkable: from the well-equipped beaches of Tigaki and Marmari, perfect for families, to the wild coves of Cavo Paradiso for those seeking tranquillity, to the volcanic beaches of Therma with their unique thermal properties. Each beach has its own personality and distinctive characteristics.

It is the most popular destination on Kos, about 30 km away from the capital, perfect for reaching by scooter. Paradise Beach is considered the island’s signature beach and the name is by no means coincidental.
The beach is a veritable paradise, with fine golden sand and wonderful crystal-clear waters. The seabed is shallow and therefore perfect for children. One of the most distinctive features of Paradise Beach is the presence of underwater springs of natural gas that create small bubbles in the water, giving the impression of swimming in a natural pool with a whirlpool effect.
The beach is fully equipped with bathing establishments, sunbeds, parasols and numerous beach bars. The organisation of Paradise Beach is nothing short of exceptional, with establishments that, in addition to sunbeds and umbrellas, also offer sports such as parasailing. Its location in the bay of Kefalos makes it sheltered from the winds, guaranteeing consistently calm waters.

Not to be missed on Kos, Therma is one of the most distinctive beaches on the island. Therma beach is located 10 km south of Kos and is famous for its black sand and pebble beach and, above all, for its thermal springs!
Next to Agios Fokas is a natural hot springs beach known as Therma, or Thermes. It is one of the most unique beaches on Kos and certainly one of the healthiest (the springs are said to help with arthritis and rheumatism).
The beach itself is made of black volcanic and pebbly sand and is flanked by a large wall of rocks, with deep blue waters lapping its shores. The spring forms around an artificial pool right on the edge, with cool water caressing you. The thermal waters reach temperatures between 30 and 50 degrees Celsius, creating a natural spa experience in a wild and pristine environment.

It is not difficult to understand why Tigaki has become one of the most popular beaches on Kos.
There are two reasons why it is so attractive: it is a 10-kilometre-long stretch of white sand bathed by a crystal-clear sea; it has an extraordinary view of the Turkish Bodrum peninsula and the islands of Kalymnos and Perimsos.
Tigaki is immersed in an exceptional landscape full of meadows and flowers but has excellent facilities with mid- to high-end hotels, flats for rent, travel agencies, shops, bars, taverns and cafes as well as nautical centres where you can practise water sports, take windsurfing lessons and rent chairs, deckchairs and parasols.
Where is it located? Tigaki Beach is located along the northern coast of Kos, just 11 kilometres from the capital and 7 from the village of Asfendiou.

Separated from Tigaki beach by the salt marsh of Alyki, Marmari is a long sandy beach with many facilities and for this reason awarded the Blue Flag; you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, enjoy water sports as well as traditional Kos cuisine in one of its many wine cellars, bars and restaurants.
The beach is surrounded by a fantastic panorama of sand dunes that separate the bathing area from the hotel facilities along the coast. Despite being equipped, the beach is never crowded during the summer and given its extent, you will not be hard pressed to find a corner all to yourself where you can lay out your towel.
Marmari is particularly popular with families for its shallow waters and its crystal-clear waters that in winter are populated by algae of the Posidonia species, a sign of a clean sea, vital fish fauna and good water oxygenation.
The beach is made more attractive by a system of dunes behind it, separating it from the hotels and flats along the coast.
Where is it located? Marmari beach is located along the northern coast of the island 15 kilometres north-west of Kos town and 4 kilometres from Pyli.

Surrounded by tamarisk trees, the white sandy beach of Mastichari has a Caribbean flavour, with white sand and blue sea.
A former fishing village, it is a quiet location that has remained immune to the invasion of mass tourism. There is no shortage of beach facilities and hotel accommodation in the surrounding area, but without excessive crowding.
Along the seafront there are a number of notable small restaurants where one can enjoy the rich local cuisine. The village harbour is always full of fishermen who supply the taverns with fresh fish every day. The Wine Festival is also organised here every year.
Mastichari is also the starting point for boat trips to the nearby islands of Kalymos and Pserimos.
If you are lucky, you can rent studios that overlook the sea. The sunset will leave you breathless!
Where is it located? Mastichari Beach is located along the northern coast of Kos, 22 kilometres west of the capital and in front of the modern tourist village of the same name.

Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful beaches on Kos thanks to its turquoise and transparent waters, ideal for families and those who enjoy the beach life, Agios Stefanos is located just 3 kilometres from Kefalos in the west of the island and overlooks the large gulf of Kolpos Kefalou.
What makes it particularly picturesque is the presence, right in front of the beach, of the islet of Kastri, a rocky outcrop on which a typical blue and white Greek church has been built.
According to a local custom, the more daring swim to the islet, climb up the rocks and ring a small bell on the side of the church.
If a swim is not for you, you can stay on the beach and admire the ruins of the Christian basilicas, discovered in 1932 by the Italian archaeologist Lorenzi, and decorated with beautiful mosaics.
Lambi is usually the first beach you get to know. A short distance from the city centre, this is also one of the most popular organised beaches with 1 km of beach, all sand.
Lambi Beach is the closest beach to the centre of Kos town, making it extremely convenient for those staying in the capital. It offers crystal-clear water (it has been awarded the Blue Flag), and all possible choices of entertainment, and beach bars, beach volleyball facilities a plethora of tavernas.
The golden sand and excellent organisation make it ideal for families. The beach is fully equipped and offers all the services you need for a relaxing day, from sunbed and umbrella hire to the numerous bars and restaurants along the coast.

Kardamena is one of the main tourist resorts on the island of Kos. Its sandy beach, more than 3 km long, stretches on both sides of the village to the resort of Tolari.
It is a well-equipped beach with numerous facilities, popular with families for its calm, shallow waters that make it suitable even for small children.
Young people in search of fun, on the other hand, appreciate Kardamena for the number of water sports that can be practised and the lively nightlife.
Boat trips to Paradise Beach and Nisyros, a small island of volcanic origin, depart from Kardamena.
Agios Fokas is the most beautiful on this stretch and is the last one you will encounter (before reaching the hotels near Therma Beach). Located on the east coast of the island, Agios Fokas is one of the quietest and most authentic beaches on Kos.
It is a shallow pebble beach and in front you have a view of Bodrum and the Turkish coast. It is a very quiet beach, equipped with umbrellas and deck chairs and there is a bar.
The beach is mainly frequented by Greeks and is not at all overcrowded even when it seems that the whole world has gathered on the beaches of Kos. The panoramic view of the Turkish coast and the tranquillity that characterises it make it perfect for those seeking a more authentic and relaxing experience.
Psalidi Beach is one of the beaches closest to the centre of Kos town, which can be easily reached from here by all means, including bicycles. Psalidi is a beautiful beach, made of dark pebbles and well organised.
Psalidi has a distinctive dark pebble beach that distinguishes it from the island’s classic sandy beaches. Its strategic location, only 3 kilometres from the centre of Kos, makes it easily accessible by bicycle or on foot.
The beach is fully organised with bathing establishments, taverns and bars. It is particularly popular with water sports enthusiasts due to its exposure, which provides ideal conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The waters are deep right from the start, making it less suitable for small children.
Cavo Paradiso is the wildest and most secluded beach on the island, which can be reached by about 7-8 km of dirt road. Cavo Paradiso represents the most adventurous experience Kos has to offer. The beach bay is shaped like an arch, with turquoise waters and white sand.
The road is quite bad and you have to drive very slowly. Eventually, however, you arrive in a large bay surrounded by cliffs, which is very scenic. The arch shape of the bay, surrounded by imposing cliffs, creates a landscape of rare beauty. Its waters are ideal for swimming and snorkelling, as they offer exceptional visibility down to a depth of 40 metres.
Camel Beach is part of the beach complex in the bay of Kefalos and owes its evocative name to the shape of the surrounding sand dunes. While you’re at it, check out the so-called Magic Beach, Exotic Beach, Banana Beach and Camel Beach.
Located between Paradise Beach and Agios Stefanos, Camel Beach offers fine golden sand and crystal clear waters in a wilder and less crowded environment than the main beaches. The beach is partially equipped with essential facilities but maintains a natural, relaxed atmosphere.
The sheltered position in the bay of Kefalos guarantees consistently calm waters, ideal for families with children. The beach can be reached both by land and sea, with boat excursions departing from Kardamena.
Limnionas Beach is located on the west coast of the island and is one of the most remote and peaceful beaches on Kos. Characterised by golden sand and crystal-clear waters, it is surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation.
The beach is unorganised and maintains a completely natural appearance. Access requires a short walk via a dirt path, but the effort is amply rewarded by the beauty of the landscape and the tranquillity of the place.
Limnionas is particularly popular with naturalists and those seeking an authentic seaside experience away from the tourist crowds. The waters are generally calm and the depth gradually increases, making it suitable even for children.
Agios Theologos is a hidden gem on the west coast of Kos, famous for offering some of the most spectacular sunsets on the island. The beach is characterised by golden sand and turquoise waters in a wild, unspoilt setting.
Its panoramic position on a small sheltered bay makes it ideal for those seeking tranquillity and natural beauty. The beach is unorganised but has a small taverna serving fresh fish and local specialities.
Agios Theologos is particularly popular with photographers and nature lovers for its breathtaking scenery and romantic atmosphere, especially during the sunset hours when the sky is tinged with incredible colours.
Magic Beach (also called Polemi or Exotic Beach) is the easternmost beach in this area and the first beach one encounters on the road from the airport to Kefalos. Exotic Beach, also known as Polemi Beach, is one of the most distinctive beaches in Kefalos Bay.
Magic Beach is partially organised with sunbeds and umbrellas, but also has space for naturists. The beach offers a perfect balance between organised facilities and natural areas, allowing each visitor to find their ideal size.
The golden sand and crystal-clear waters make it perfect for those seeking relaxation and tranquillity. The beach is easily accessible from Kos airport, as it is one of the first to be encountered on the way to Kefalos.
