Paradise Beach is undoubtedly one of the most popular beach destinations on Kos, located in the south-western part of the Dodecanese island. This 800-metre-long sandy beach is distinguished by its fine golden sand and crystal-clear waters that fade from turquoise to deep blue.
The beach owes its name to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, characterised by sand dunes covered with Mediterranean vegetation and a spectacular view of the islet of Kastri. The strategic location along the west coast also guarantees breathtaking sunsets that attract visitors from all over the island.
Paradise Beach is located about 35 kilometres from Kos town and is a must for visitors to Kos beaches. The combination of organised facilities and stretches of free beach makes it suitable for different types of travellers.
Reaching Paradise Beach requires careful planning considering its relatively isolated location in the south-western part of Kos. Car hire is undoubtedly the most practical and flexible option for visiting this beautiful beach.
From Kos airport, the drive takes about 45 minutes following the main road south-west through the villages of Zipari and Kefalos. The road is well paved most of the way, but the last 3 kilometres have a dirt track that requires attention, especially with small rental cars.
Parking near the beach is limited and during the high season fills up quickly in the middle of the day. We recommend arriving by 10:00 a.m. to secure a parking space, considering that the nearest parking area is about 200 metres from the shore via a path through the dunes.
Public transport to Paradise Beach is limited and irregular. During the summer season, some tour operators organise day trips that include transport and sometimes lunch, departing from the island’s main tourist centres such as Kardamena and Kos town.
The area of Kefalos is an ideal base to stay near Paradise Beach, offering various types of accommodation about 8 kilometres from the beach. This small traditional village has boutique hotels, flats and villas that combine Greek authenticity with modern amenities.
The areas of Kamari and Agios Stefanos, located along the west coast, offer quieter alternatives with facilities surrounded by nature. These areas provide privileged access not only to Paradise Beach but also to the other beautiful beaches of the Kefalos Peninsula.
For those who prefer more amenities and nightlife, staying in the Kos town area is a viable option, although a daily commute of about 45 minutes is required to reach Paradise Beach. From Kos town you can also easily reach other Dodecanese islands such as Rhodes or Karpathos.
The beautiful Paradise Beach is located just 7 kilometres south of Kefalos, on the south-western tip of Kos.
