Some call it the Rimini of Rhodes, some call it the Las Vegas of Rhodes… the comparisons may not be entirely apt, what is certain is that entertainment is the main reason for the success of Faliraki, a popular seaside resort along the east coast of the island of Rhodes.

The town is a long succession of hotels and flats for tourists, just as the main beach is a long succession of rows of beach umbrellas and kiosks. The scenery is completed by a multitude of shops, cafés, nightclubs, restaurants, discos, beach volleyball courts, water parks, bungee-jumping, children’s play areas, go-kart tracks, riding centres and other sports facilities.

Faliraki is not the most attractive resort on Rhodes but it is the one that offers the most services and the most convenient hotels, plus it is easy to reach and you can choose from several beaches in the surroundings. From here one can visit the island’s tourist attractions on wonderful day tours.

Particularly popular with young people and families, Faliraki actually lends itself to beach holidays of all kinds, which are easy to organise and reasonably priced.

Faliraki Beaches

The beaches around Faliraki are mostly sandy and equipped; with a few exceptions, they are suitable for everyone.

Faliraki Beach

The town beach of Faliraki is one of the most famous in Rhodes and certainly the most frequented. It is a long shoreline of golden sand that is largely equipped and offers a considerable amount of services, kiosks and sports facilities. The sea is blue and clear, the waters calm and the seabed shallow.

It is a beach suitable for families who want services and comfort and for young people looking for clubs and entertainment.

Anthony Quinn Bay

2Paralia Antoni Kouin, Kallithea, Greece

Just 4 km from the crowded beach of Faliraki is a corner of paradise with a completely different atmosphere: Anthony Quinn Bay, so called because the famous American actor fell madly in love with it during the shooting of the film ‘The Guns of Navarone’.

It is a beach of polished stones, partly equipped, located on a scenic inlet and washed by a splendid turquoise sea; the seabed is a mixture of sand and rock, perfect for snorkelling.

Don’t expect an oasis of peace: this is one of the most famous and photographed beaches on Rhodes; however, the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and the number of clubs far fewer than on the fashionable Faliraki beach. People come here more for the nature than for the entertainment.

It is not suitable for families with small children or for people with mobility difficulties.

Ladiko Beach

On the opposite side of the promontory enclosing Anthony Quinn Bay is another enchanting bay, somewhat less well known, with a mixed beach of pebbles and fine sand washed by a clear blue sea. The surrounding hills are covered with lush Mediterranean vegetation.

Ladiko beach is also partly equipped and has parking facilities.

Kathara Beach

4Kathara Beach, Faliraki 851 00, Greece

Of the beaches of Faliraki, Kathara is the quietest, recommended for those who do not like rows of umbrellas next to each other. It is a mixed beach of sand and pebbles that stretches close to a small fishermen’s harbour; it too is equipped but is less crowded than the other beaches in the area.

Things to do in Faliraki

Faliraki is a typical seaside resort: a place developed for tourism, with no historical or cultural attractions to visit.

Faliraki’s most famous attraction is its gigantic WaterPark, a water amusement park with pools and slides for all ages – perfect for a carefree day of family fun.

For tours and cultural visits, you only need to travel to Rhodes and Lindos, which can easily be visited on a day trip. There will even be time for a dip on your return!

Where to stay in Faliraki

The main reason why so many travellers choose to stay in Faliraki during their Rhodes holiday is the huge choice of cheap flats and residences.

Cheap accommodation in Faliraki is simple, with basic furnishings and facilities, but clean and comfortable: perfect for a low-cost holiday, especially recommended for families and groups of friends who need to keep their holiday budget under control.

As far as hotels are concerned, on the other hand, medium-high-end establishments prevail. Most of the hotels in Faliraki are all-inclusive resorts or 4- or 5-star mega-hotels with swimming pools; some are specifically designed for families while others are more suitable for couples or those seeking relaxation and wellness services in general. Some of Faliraki’s finest spa hotels are for adults only.
