The city beaches are perfect for a few hours of relaxation, and a few kilometres away there are even more beautiful ones.
Rhodes Town is located on the northern tip of the island, so it is not the best choice for those who plan to visit a lot of places on the island, especially if you want to go as far as the little-visited southern tip. Flats in Kolymbia are generally mid- to high-end accommodation: villas, luxury flats and suites in all-inclusive resorts predominate, almost always with a swimming pool. Cheaper accommodation can also be found, but if you are aiming for low cost, it is best to start looking well in advance.
Afandou is recommended for those who want a quiet holiday, away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy resorts, but without going as far as remote areas that are difficult to reach and have few bars or restaurants. It has all the essential amenities and is only 6 km from Faliraki, so you can easily jump into the holiday fray when you want a bit of nightlife or need something you can’t find locally.
The old town is the oldest village on the island of Rhodes: it is a pretty hamlet with picturesque views, albeit lacking in famous attractions. The town has developed with a more modern area along the coast, where flats for tourists are concentrated.
