Antipaxos is a wild and unspoilt island with an area of 5 km² located about 20 minutes by boat from Paxos in the Ionian archipelago. Antipaxos is an uninhabited oasis that boasts Caribbean beaches and a turquoise sea where one can spend days of pure tranquillity.
Because of its characteristics, Antipaxos is the ideal destination to disconnect from everyday life and sunbathe on a coastline bathed by Caribbean seas. On the island, in fact, time seems to have stopped hundreds of years ago: there are no tourist facilities and there is only one road and one small village.
Antipaxos is a small island that is not populated in winter, but only with the beginning of the summer season do the connections and the few activities on the island become active. Antipaxos is the ideal destination to discover in a day trip from Paxos if you want to spend time on the sea and relaxing.
In general, we can say that the advice given for other Greek islands also applies to this small island: the beginning and end of summer are definitely the best times to visit. The middle months of July and August are the warmest and least rainy, but they are also often the most crowded. However, it must be said that the amount of tourists here is never too excessive.

Antipaxos is a true paradise oasis that boasts three main beaches: Vrika Beach, Mesovrikam and Voutoumi Beach. Vrika Beach is a beach with white sand and turquoise sea. This stretch of shoreline is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas and the presence of typical taverns serving food and drinks during the day. Because of its facilities and location, Vrika is one of the beaches most frequented by tourists visiting the island during the day.
Another beach not to be missed is Voutoumi Beach where small pebbles are mixed with white sand, while the sea has shades ranging from turquoise to dark green. The waters of Voutoumi Beach have a slowly sloping seabed and are therefore also perfect for less experienced swimmers or children. The beach, although modest in size, is equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas and several taverns where one can eat.
Finally, on the north-eastern side of the island, nestled between Voutoumi and Vrika is the small but characteristic beach of Mesovritika. This is a shoreline of white pebbles and pebbles washed by a turquoise sea. The clarity of the water also attracts snorkelling enthusiasts. This beach is not equipped and the closest clubs are those of the beaches of Voutoumi or Vrika.

Antipaxos is a small island with only one village, Agrapidia, with essential services, zero hotels and no shops. Agrapidia is the only village and the one with the marina where tourists disembark daily. Those who enjoy hiking and walking can go from Agrapidia to the southern end of the island where there is a small lighthouse. The walk can be done in about two hours, but it is necessary to bring water and snacks as there are no facilities along the route.
Thanks to its beautiful seabed, Antipaxos is also ideal for snorkelling enthusiasts, who can admire colourful fish and lush marine vegetation. Cave lovers can take part in organised boat trips to discover the beautiful Blue Caves.
There are no hotels or other facilities in Antipaxos. In recent years, villas and a few studios have sprung up that can be rented. In the evenings, however, there are no taverns or restaurants open. The island comes alive with the arrival of tourists in the morning and ‘shuts down’ when they leave in the late afternoon. Given these characteristics, the best advice is to choose a hotel in Paxos, since from there one can comfortably set off to visit Antipaxos in a day.
Antipaxos is only connected by sea with the neighbouring island of Paxos. Here, both taxi boats and tourist boats depart from the small harbour of Gaios. The boat trip takes about 15 – 20 minutes. In turn, Paxos is connected to the island of Corfu and the city of Igoumenitsa in mainland Greece by numerous ferries.
Another alternative is to hire a private boat for the day, which takes you from Paxos to Antipaxos and gives you a complete tour of the island to discover its caves and beauty.
