Banana Beach is the largest beach on the island of Zakynthos, a magnificent 2.5-kilometre stretch of golden sand stretching along the south-east coast of the island on the Vasilikos peninsula. Reaching Banana Beach is easy thanks to its location and the various means of transport available. The beach is located on the Vasilikos peninsula, 14 kilometres south of Zakynthos town, along the main road connecting Argassi with the village of Vasilikos.
For those travelling by hire car, the route is well signposted from the main road and takes about 20 minutes to drive from Zakynthos town. The road is in good condition and offers scenic views along the way. Once at your destination, you will find ample free shaded parking spaces that can accommodate a significant number of vehicles, making this a very convenient option for families and groups.
Public transport is a cheap and efficient alternative. KTEL buses connect Zakynthos town with Vasilikos with 5-6 daily runs, while direct buses to Banana Beach depart from Argassi with a frequency of 3 times a day. The bus journey takes about 25 minutes from Zakynthos town and the ticket price is very cheap.
A particularly popular option for tourists are the free shuttles that connect some of the main tourist resorts with Banana Beach. These shuttles offer the outward journey free of charge, while the return journey requires a receipt for a drink at the beach bars or use of the beach facilities.
