Tsilivi is the ideal choice for those seeking a balanced holiday in Zakynthos, combining the relaxation of a beautiful sandy beach with a lively but never excessive atmosphere. This charming seaside resort, located on the east coast of the island, has established itself in recent years as one of the most popular holiday destinations for families and couples mainly from Northern Europe.

Surrounded by a plain carpeted with olive groves that create an authentic and evocative Mediterranean landscape, Tsilivi overlooks a large, enchanting bay that offers protection from the winds and provides ideal sea conditions for bathing. The village is spread over three main avenues with a rich variety of bars, restaurants, taverns and shops, creating a cosmopolitan yet people-friendly environment.

Tsilivi beach, about 1.5 kilometres long, is considered among the most beautiful on the island thanks to its golden sand and crystal-clear waters that slope gently out to sea. The shallow waters for the first 40 metres from the shore make it perfect for families with children, while the modern tourist organisation guarantees high standards of service and comfort.

The resort is just 6 kilometres from Zakynthos town, making it easily accessible and strategically positioned for exploring the entire island, while maintaining the tranquillity of a well-organised seaside village.

Beaches in and around Tsilivi

The main beach of Tsilivi is the jewel in the town’s crown, stretching between two rocky peaks that form a protected natural bay. This geographical configuration creates excellent sea conditions, sheltered from the prevailing winds and characterised by consistently calm waters even during the windiest days.

Tsilivi Beach

The long stretch of golden sand is perfectly equipped with hundreds of sunbeds and umbrellas available at very competitive prices (around 7 euro for 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella), alternating with large areas of free beach where you can set up with your own equipment. The sandy-rocky seabed creates a varied marine environment: sandy for the first 40 metres, then becoming rocky, ideal for both relaxing and snorkelling.

The crystal-clear waters and consistently warm temperature during the summer months make long swims and water activities of all kinds possible. The beach hosts a modern water sports centre where one can water ski, windsurf, pedal boat, jet ski and enjoy banana boats and towed donuts, making the bathing experience complete and dynamic.

Bouka Beach

There are several smaller but equally well-equipped beaches in the Gulf of Tsilivi, such as Bouka Beach, which offers a more intimate setting with bars and restaurants right on the sand. These smaller coves are perfect for those seeking more tranquillity while remaining close to the main facilities.

Gaidaros Beach

About 3 km north of Tsilivi is Gaidaros Beach, also known as ‘Donkey Beach’, a small hidden gem ideal for those seeking a wilder and less crowded atmosphere. This beach of pebbles and fine sand is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation and offers particularly transparent waters.

Things to do and do in Tsilivi

Tsilivi offers a full range of activities and attractions that make it suitable for all types of travellers. The centre of the village comes alive every evening when couples and families stroll along the three main avenues, where souvenir shops, restaurants, pubs and excursion offices alternate in a more relaxed atmosphere than the chaotic Laganas.

The Tsilivi Waterpark is one of the main attractions in the area, located just outside the town centre. This modern water park offers attractions suitable for both children and young thrill-seekers, with spectacular slides, themed pools and relaxation areas for adults.

The Voultsos family’s Callinico Winery is a unique cultural experience, combining a wine museum and free wine tasting. Visitors can explore traditional and modern winemaking equipment, stroll through the cellars where bottles are stored and conclude with a guided tasting of local wines.

Nightlife

Tsilivi’s nightlife is characterised by a softer, more family-friendly atmosphere than the more outrageous parts of the island. The main venues include the Paradise Cocktail Bar and the Level Bar, which offer live music and entertainment until late at night. The all-wood Ark Bar is particularly popular for its engaging staff that organises dances, shows and karaoke sessions.

The Mango and Venus beach bars dominate the daytime and evening scene on the beach, organising happy hours and aperitifs with DJs who create an engaging but never excessive atmosphere. After 1am, many young people move on to Laganas, Argassi or Zakynthos town to continue the evening.

Excursions around Tsilivi

These facilities are particularly popular with families for their gardens, communal swimming pools and children’s play areas.
