Due to its location in the northern part of the gulf that bears its name, Thessaloniki is characterised by a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and warm summers. It is not uncommon, however, to witness snowfalls during the winter or particularly hot days, with temperatures over 40°, during the summer.
The Thessaloniki’s direct contact with the sea and its proximity to the Lagada Lakes make its climate very humid with dense fog, especially in the early morning hours in winter, but the city is nevertheless blessed with many sunny days throughout the year.
